The Competency Based Assessment consists of the following 3 parts and is based on competencies defined in the Competency Based Standards for Entry Level Chiropractors:

Part 1 - Written Basic Competency;

bullet

Part 2 - Written Clinical Competency; and

bullet

Part 3 - Practical Clinical Competency.

 

REMEMBER : Candidates are strongly advised to read the following to ensure they are adequately prepared for the assessment:

 

bullet

the Candidate Guide, which includes a detailed outline of the components of the Competency Based Assessment; and

bullet

the Evaluation Guidelines and Preparation; and

bullet

the Competency Based Professional Standards for Entry Level Chiropractors.

 

If you live outside of Australia, you should allow for at least a minimum of two months in Australia to observe local chiropractic practice, complete the Evaluation Process and receive your formal results. Advice regarding visa types is available from Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC).

 

 

FORMAT OF COMPETENCY BASED ASSESSMENT

The Competency Based Assessment consists of the following:

 

Part 1

Section 1 -    1 x 1 hour paper relating to chiropractic principles;

Section 2 -    1 x 2 hour paper relating to anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, nutrition, community medicine.

 

Part 2

Section 3 -    1 x 2 hour paper relating to neurology and orthopaedics;

Section 4 -    1 x 2 hour paper relating to differential diagnosis/organ systems;

Section 5 -    1 x 1 hour paper relating to diagnostic imaging;

Section 6 –   1 x 1 hour paper relating to radiographic practice;

 

Part 3

Section 7 -    1 hour VIVA panel (including 10mins reading time);

Section 8 -    30 minute manipulative skills technique;

Section 9 -    30 minute image interpretation; and

Section 10 - 15 minute radiographic positioning.
