 Stage 1 Desktop Audit

Candidates are reminded that the information contained on the following pages is a very brief description of the Evaluation Process.  Candidates MUST download and read the Candidate Guide, which is available on the last page, in order to be fully informed of the Evaluation Process and requirements.

The Stage 1 - Desktop Audit is a paper-based assessment of a candidate's educational qualifications.  Qualifications will be assessed in terms of occupational education as well as for general comparability to Australian educational standards.  The general comparability of educational qualifications to Australian educational standards will be based on the published Guidelines contained in the Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) Country Education Profiles for the country in which the candidate obtained their qualifications.  These Profiles reflect research carried out by AEI-NOOSR.

The following Desktop Audit options are available:

  • the candidate holds a chiropractic qualification from an accredited CCE program (Form A1);

  • the candidate holds a chiropractic qualification from an accredited Australian or New Zealand program (Form A2);

  • the candidate is currently registered in Australia or New Zealand, regardless of qualification (Form A3) - (these candidates must hold both current registration and a current practising certificate); or

  • none of the above (Form A4)

The minimum criteria against which a qualification assessment will be made is that the candidate:

  • holds a qualification obtained from a recognised chiropractic institutionOR

  • has completed a tertiary level education program leading to an award equivalent to a 3 year Australian degree.

In addition to the above, the candidate must also:

  • be currently registered, licensed or otherwise officially recognised and in "good standing", or eligible for registration or licensure, as a chiropractor in the country where they trained or practise;  AND

  • have English as a first language OR have achieved a pass in the Occupational English Test or an overall score of Band 7 at the academic level of the International English Language Testing System.

English, as a first language, is defined for the purposes of Evaluation as birth in a country where English is an official language, secondary education is undertaken in English and the candidate's chiropractic education was undertaken at an institution where all instruction was in English.

More detailed information regarding the Desktop Audits is available in the Candidate Guide.  Candidates are strongly advised to read this Guide carefully to ensure they complete the correct type of Desktop Audit.
